Everett City's salsa scene has grown steadily over the past decade, shifting from a handful of church-basement socials to a network of dedicated studios, seasoned instructors, and weekly dance nights. If you're new to the city—or new to salsa—the choices can feel overwhelming. Styles differ. Pricing ranges widely. And "beginner-friendly" means something different at every door.
We visited five established training hubs, sat in on classes, and spoke with instructors and students to compile this practical guide. Whether you want structured progress toward competition or a low-pressure place to socialize on Friday nights, here's where to start.

What "Salsa" Means at Each Studio
Before choosing a studio, it helps to know what style you're learning. L.A. style (on-1) breaks forward on the first beat and emphasizes theatrical spins and dips. New York style (on-2) breaks on the second beat and draws heavily from mambo, with intricate footwork and elegant partner connections. Cuban (casino) features circular movement, less rigid timing, and heavy Afro-Cuban body action. Most Everett City studios teach L.A. style by default, but Cuban and on-2 options exist if you know where to look.
Rumberos Dance Studio
Address: 1423 Hewitt Avenue, Downtown Everett
Website: rumberosdanceeverett.com
Contact: (425) 555-0142
Rumberos occupies a former warehouse near the Everett Performing Arts Center, and the space shows. The main room stretches 3,000 square feet with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and a sprung maple floor—one of the few in the city built specifically for partner dancing. During a Tuesday evening Level 2 class, instructor Marco Delgado drilled cross-body leads into progressive turns, stopping every eight counts to correct arm tension and frame collapse.
Delgado, who trained in Los Angeles and San Juan, teaches Rumberos' signature Salsa Fusion class on Thursdays. The syllabus blends on-1 fundamentals with cha-cha footwork and occasional Afro-Cuban isolations. "It's not about being flashy," Delgado told us. "It's about understanding where the movement comes from so you can adapt to any music."
Class sizes typically run 15–25 students. Parking is free in the adjacent lot after 5 p.m.
The Salsa Spot
Address: 2987 Colby Avenue, North Everett
Website: thesalsaSpot.net
Contact: (425) 555-0298
Tucked above a Colombian bakery, The Salsa Spot feels less like a dance school and more like a community living room. The studio itself is modest—one room, about 800 square feet, with a worn but well-cared-for floor. Founder and lead instructor Gloria Vélez opened the space in 2017 after teaching rueda de casino in local parks for nearly a decade.
Vélez runs Salsa Socials every Friday from 8:30 p.m. to midnight: a one-hour beginner lesson followed by open dancing. The crowd skews older and heavily bilingual, with regulars who bring homemade empanadas to share. If you want competitive training or mirrored walls for solo footwork drills, this isn't your place. If you want to learn Cuban-style salsa in a conversational, culturally rooted environment, it's hard to beat.
Drop-in classes cost $15. The monthly social calendar includes live salsa bands roughly once a month—check the website for dates.
