You know that moment on the dance floor—when the song shifts, your partner's eyes light up, and everything clicks? Our Salsa Bootcamp is designed to make that moment your new normal. Whether you're still counting "1-2-3, 5-6-7" under your breath or you've outgrown your local socials, this intensive six-week program meets you where you are and accelerates your growth.
Why Most Dancers Hit a Wall
You've taken the beginner classes. You've memorized the basic patterns. Yet something's missing. Your turns feel mechanical. Your musicality lags behind the beat. You watch advanced dancers glide through complex combinations and wonder: How do they make it look so effortless?
The truth? Most dancers plateau because they lack structured, intensive practice with expert feedback. Group classes move too slowly. YouTube tutorials can't correct your form. And without accountability, it's easy to practice the same bad habits for years.
Our Salsa Bootcamp breaks through that ceiling with concentrated training that transforms how you move, hear, and respond to the music.
What Makes This Bootcamp Different
This isn't another drop-in class series. Over six consecutive weeks, you'll train with instructors who've performed at the New York Salsa Congress and trained with Eddie Torres Jr. Our curriculum builds systematically—each session layering new skills onto the last.
Your Weekly Progression
| Week | Focus | What You'll Master |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Foundation Reset | Body isolation, weight transfer, and timing precision through daily footwork drills |
| 3-4 | Musicality & Movement | Dancing to the music, not just on it; introducing shines and styling |
| 5-6 | Integration & Confidence | Complex turn patterns, seamless lead-follow connection, and social dance readiness |
Inside the Studio
- Morning technique sessions (Saturdays, 10 AM–1 PM): Mirror-facing drills with real-time video analysis so you see exactly what your instructor sees
- Evening practicas (Wednesdays, 7–9 PM): Supervised social dancing with rotating partners and on-the-spot coaching
- Private feedback loops: Weekly 15-minute one-on-one sessions to address your specific sticking points
Who This Is For (And Who It's Not)
You'll thrive here if:
- You can execute basic salsa steps but struggle with faster tempos or complex patterns
- You want to stop apologizing for your dancing and start getting asked to dance
- You're willing to commit 4–5 hours weekly between classes and deliberate practice
This isn't the right fit if:
- You've never stepped onto a dance floor before (our Foundations class starts monthly)
- You can't attend at least 5 of the 6 Saturday sessions
- You're looking for a casual, drop-in experience
What Changes—Beyond the Steps
By week three, you'll stop counting and start feeling the clave. By week five, you'll walk into any salsa social knowing you can hold your own, whether the DJ plays fast salsa dura or slow, romantic bachata.
Graduates report transformations that extend beyond technique:
"I used to hide in the corners at socials. Last month, I performed a solo shine routine at my studio's showcase. The bootcamp didn't just teach me steps—it rewired my confidence." — Maria T., Fall 2024 graduate
"As a lead, I finally understand how to listen to my partner's body instead of just executing patterns. My dances feel like conversations now." — James K., Spring 2024 graduate
Meet Your Instructors
Ana Morales brings 15 years of performance experience and a background in kinesiology. Her teaching philosophy? "Technique serves expression. We drill the mechanics so you can forget them and just dance."
David Chen trained in Cuba and Miami before settling here. He specializes in musicality—helping dancers hear the layers in salsa orchestras and respond with intention.
Together, they've coached dancers who now perform internationally and compete at the amateur level.
Your Questions Answered
What if I miss a class? Each session is recorded (footwork-only angles) for review, and Wednesday practicas include make-up material. Miss more than two Saturdays, though, and we recommend waiting for the next cycle.
What should I wear? Comfortable practice clothes and suede-bottom dance shoes (we'll send a buying guide upon registration). Street sneakers won't work for the pivoting and sliding our drills require.
Is there a performance requirement? Optional. We hold a studio showcase in week seven for those who want to demonstrate their progress. No pressure—many dancers use this as a personal milestone rather than a public performance.
