How we chose these studios: We evaluated every belly dance program in Everett City against three criteria—instructor certification and minimum five years of teaching experience, breadth of class offerings from absolute beginner through advanced, and consistently positive feedback from local students surveyed over six months. The five studios below represent the strongest combination of technical instruction, student support, and community culture.
The Serpent's Embrace Studio
Downtown Everett | Best for: Dancers who want fusion technique with performance pathways
Walk into The Serpent's Embrace on a Tuesday evening and you'll hear everything from classic Egyptian tabla loops to downtempo electronic remixes. Owner and lead instructor Amira Nour—who toured with Bellydance Superstars in the early 2000s and has taught in Everett since 2011—built her curriculum around five progressive tiers: Absolute Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Performance Ensemble.
Students here drill isolations until they're second nature, then layer them into contemporary choreography. "Amira won't let you advance until your hip drops are clean," says longtime student Jenna K., now in the Performance Ensemble. "But she also pushes you to find your own voice within the movement."
- Address: 1423 Hewitt Ave, downtown Everett
- Schedule: Beginner classes Mon/Wed 6pm; Performance Ensemble Sun 4pm

Raks Alchemy Dance Academy
Everett Waterfront District | Best for: Students seeking stress relief and mindful movement
Raks Alchemy occupies a quiet second-floor studio with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Port Gardner Bay. Founder Dahlia Rahman, a certified yoga instructor and belly dance teacher with 14 years of experience, structures every 75-minute session in three parts: 20 minutes of breathwork and gentle yoga conditioning, 40 minutes of technique and improvisation, and 15 minutes of guided meditation.
The approach attracts students recovering from burnout or injury. Raks Alchemy specializes in Egyptian raqs sharqi technique, taught at a deliberate pace that prioritizes body awareness over speed. Monthly "moon circle" gatherings give students space to process their practice through journaling and group discussion.
- Address: 2810 Grand Ave, Everett waterfront
- Schedule: Mixed-level classes Tue/Thu 7pm, Sat 10am

The Shimmy Shack
North Everett | Best for: Beginners and anyone who wants fitness to feel like a party
"At 6 p.m. on Thursdays, the main room sounds like a celebration," says owner Marisol Vega. "We had someone propose in the middle of a student showcase last year." Vega, a former Zumba instructor who transitioned to belly dance in 2012, has built The Shimmy Shack around high-energy, music-driven classes that emphasize cardio and community.
The Shack's signature "Drill & Thrill" format rotates through themed nights—Turkish Roman on Mondays, Egyptian pop on Wednesdays, fusion Fridays—with each class ending in a freestyle circle. Students describe the vibe as "no-judgment" and "addictively fun." Vega's beginner retention rate is the highest of any studio we surveyed.
- Address: 3402 Rucker Ave, North Everett
- Schedule: Drill & Thrill daily 6pm; Beginner fundamentals Sat 11am

Desert Rose Dance Collective
Bayside Neighborhood | Best for: Students who want cultural and historical depth
Desert Rose is the only studio in Everett City whose entire faculty has trained in the Middle East or North Africa. Co-director Leila Farid studied Egyptian raqs sharqi in Cairo for eight years; co-director Selim Özdemir trained in Turkish orientale in Istanbul. Together they offer the most regionally specific programming in the area.
Beginners start with Egyptian-style technique and repertoire. Intermediate students can add Turkish orientale, North African sha'abi, or Levantine dabke. Every quarter, Desert Rose hosts a culture night with live music, regional food, and lectures on dance history. The studio requires no performance participation—many students attend purely for the educational experience.
- Address: 1903 Colby Ave, Bayside
- Schedule: Egyptian beginner Mon 6:30pm; Turkish intermediate Thu 7pm; Culture nights quarterly
