Basic Step
The basic step is the foundation of Lindy Hop. It's a simple step that involves a rock step, a triple step, and a kick or a step. Here's how to do it:
- Start with your feet together.
- Step forward with your left foot (or backward with your right foot).
- Rock back onto your right foot (or forward onto your left foot).
- Triple step: step right, left, right (or left, right, left).
- Kick or step: kick your right foot forward (or left foot backward) or step to the side.
Repeat the basic step on the other side to continue the dance.
Six-count Swingout
The six-count swingout is a classic Lindy Hop move that involves a partner. It's a great way to get comfortable with leading and following. Here's how to do it:
- Start in a closed position with your partner.
- Step back with your left foot (or forward with your right foot).
- Rock step: step right, left, right (or left, right, left).
- Triple step: step left, right, left (or right, left, right).
- Swing out: step back with your right foot (or forward with your left foot) and pivot to the side.
- Finish the move by stepping back onto your left foot (or forward onto your right foot).
Remember to maintain good posture and connection with your partner throughout the move.
