First-Timer FAQ Your Questions, Answered
Do I need a partner? No! Square dancing is for groups of eight. Singles are not just welcome; they’re essential.
What do I wear? For your first class, just wear comfortable clothes and smooth-soled shoes (sneakers are fine!). The iconic ruffled skirts and bolo ties come later if you want them.
Is it expensive? Most beginner workshops are very affordable, often just a small fee to cover the hall and caller.
Two left feet? Perfect. The calls are taught step-by-step. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn in one night.

- Welcome & Warm-Up: You’ll be greeted, introduced to a few people, and shown the basic stance and hold.

- Form a Square & Try It: You’ll get into a square of eight and practice the calls slowly to music.
