Elevate Arts Collective

Where Contemporary Vision Meets Technical Mastery

Tucked away in a renovated Camden warehouse, Elevate feels more like an artist's loft than a traditional studio. Exposed brick walls are lined with awards, but the focus is squarely on the future. If you hear a complex, syncopated rhythm echoing down Camden's main street, it's likely coming from PTRP. Master tap dancer and historian, Mr. Elijah "Eli" James, runs this temple to percussive dance with a focus on lineage and innovation.

"We study the Nicholas Brothers, Honi Coles, and Dianne Walker," says James. "Then we ask, 'What's your voice? How will you add to this story?'" The result is a crew of tappers who are as comfortable with classic time steps as they are with composing intricate rhythm sequences over hip-hop beats.
