Dance Spotlight: The Tarantella

Born in Southern Italy, the Tarantella is as much a medical folklore as it is a dance. Legend says the fast, spinning dance was a cure for tarantula bites. Whether true or not, the rapid 6/8 time, accompanied by tambourines and mandolins, creates an infectious energy that's impossible to resist. The dance represents courtship, with partners mirroring each other's steps in a playful chase.

Our playlist features "Carlo," a modern interpretation that maintains the traditional spirit while adding contemporary energy.

Dance Spotlight: Bhangra

Originating from Punjab, Bhangra began as a harvest celebration dance but has evolved into a global phenomenon. Characterized by high-energy kicks, jumps, and arm movements, Bhangra is accompanied by the dhol drum, creating powerful rhythms that compel movement.

The fusion of traditional Bhangra with hip-hop and pop elements has created a new genre that maintains its cultural roots while appealing to international audiences. Our selection "Mundian To Bach Ke" perfectly represents this fusion.
