Trainer Ralph Beckett is considering a start in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes for his Derby sixth, Dancing Gemini. The three-year-old colt has been impressive in his last two starts, finishing a close third in the Derby and then winning a Listed race at Newmarket.
Dancing Gemini, a son of Frankel, has shown a strong turn of foot and has the potential to make a big impact in top-class company. The Coral-Eclipse Stakes, which takes place at Sandown on July 3, is a key target for the colt, with Beckett looking to build on his recent form.
"We're considering the Coral-Eclipse for Dancing Gemini," Beckett said. "He's been running really well and we're excited to see how he gets on in top-class company. He's a very talented horse and we think he can make a big impression."
The Coral-Eclipse Stakes is a prestigious event that attracts some of the best three-year-olds in Europe. The race has been won by some top-class horses in recent years, including Kingman and Frankel.
Dancing Gemini will need to step up another level to win the Coral-Eclipse, but Beckett is confident that his colt has the ability to do so. "He's a very good horse and we think he can win a race like the Coral-Eclipse," Beckett said. "We'll have to see how he comes out of his next start, but we're looking forward to the challenge."
The Coral-Eclipse Stakes is just one of several options for Dancing Gemini in the coming weeks. Beckett is also considering a start in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood, which takes place on July 27.
"We'll have to see how he comes out of his next start, but we're looking at a few different options," Beckett said. "The Lennox Stakes is another possibility, but we'll have to see how he's doing before making a decision."
